Ruth Lewandowski, Rosé, 2021

Evan eschews chemical additives and synthetic pesticides, believing ‘natural’ to be the only way, so he works with a small number of growers who work organically. He named his label after the biblical book of Ruth, which some say is a message about the acceptance of outsiders. If this translates to wine, then his mission is to reintroduce us to traditional and largely forgotten ‘outsider’ winemaking practices, without the convenience of additives, sugars and designer yeasts that have become so prevalent in the winemaking world. Italian and Catalan grapes are favoured. Recently, Evan upped sticks to California to work on a new project with Sam Bilbro from Idlewild.
